My kiddos love literacy work stations! I love them because the kids are busy having fun and learning while I get to do guided reading...another favorite! Here is a picture of my lit stations board. We do three rotations, each lasting about 15 minutes. I have lots of stations so that my groups can be small which really helps cut down on the craziness!
Here are some of my current stations and materials...
Making Words Station
I found these little bottles and I put letter beads and glitter in them to make popcorn words.
The kids use "foam dough" which I found at the teacher store to make popcorn words.
The students read the recipe card to make popcorn words.
ABC Station
The kids use ABC stamps to make popcorn words.
Fine Motor Station
The kids use tweezers to pull out ABC beads and sort them by color. I got these letter beads at Walmart.
The students work on these little puzzles that I found at the Christmas Tree Shop for 89 cents! They come in a cute little tin as well.
The kids use tweezers to pull out ABC beads and sort them by letter.
Handwriting Station
The kids use these sticks to form letters.
Exploration Station
At the exploration station we are exploring money. We have lots of coins for the students to look at up close with a variety of magnifiers. The students can also record their observations on a recording sheet that is at the station.
Name Station
The students use Wiki Stix to make their classmates names on a piece of black laminated paper. We have a name chart visible at the station that includes the children's pictures.
The kids use letter beads to spell their classmates names on a pipe cleaner. I found these letter beads at a teacher store and love them!

You've got some great literacy center ideas. I am passionate about literacy centers and keeping numbers low - you're right it keeps the craziness down! Would you be willing to share a link to your blog on http://teacherstalkpositive.blogspot.com/? Thanks for sharing pictures- they explain a lot.

I LOVE all the pictures of your centers!! I am a visual person and it helps me SO MUCH to see a pic! It looks like you have some very lucky little kiddos.
Thanks for posting your pictures and ideas for literacy work stations. Although at my school we don't do literacy work stations but after reading your posts I figured out a way to integrate them as part of our extension activities during our Voyager stations. Thanks for the ideas.
Kinders on the Block
Ok, I am quickly loving this page as one of my favourites for finding new ideas for my Kindergarten classroom! I wonder if you could post the complete list of your literacy work stations as I am always looking to find new components that are missing from my own. Thanks!
Lots of awesome ideas! I love the letter beads to spell classmates' names. I have I Spy bottles w/ the kids' pictures in them. They have to shake the bottle- find a picture & then record the name on a recording sheet that also has their pictures in black & white. I posted lists all over the room w/ names- kind of in weird places so they have to look for it but they enjoy it! I also love your idea of having them form the letters w/ sticks. Do you have curved sticks for the curved letters?

I LOVE all of your literacy stations. I am looking for some new ideas for my stations and these are incredible! Do you have a teachers pay teachers account where I could buy/download the masters of the papers you use in some of your stations?
How big is the rainbow letter sort mat? Did you print it in color like that?
Love all the great ideas, Kelly
Love, LOVE, LOVE your literacy stations! Where did you find the little bottles for your Making Words Station?
Thanks!
I am wondering where you got your small bottles for your sight word scramble bottles? They're such a great size!
I love the little bottles too. And the name station is adorable. I know the sticks I have came in a pack from Handwriting without Tears. They come with straight sticks and curves.
I am loving your blog! Geat ideas I teach pre k and many of my students are ready for this type of learning fun!. How did you get the great work sheets to help reinforce the centers? I love them all!
I would really like to get the forming letters lesson.
Please let me know how to.
Thank you
Hi!
Did you put water into the little bottles with the glitter and the letter beads, or was there just glitter and letter beads?
Thanks!
